Training

We are very proud to support the teaching and training of future doctors and GPs here at Hastings House.

Many of our doctors are trained medical school tutors, and regularly supervise medical students from Warwick Medical School who are training to be doctors. Medical students may be observing consultations, or may be leading consultations under the close supervision of one of our GPs. Dr Preece and Dr de Cates also regularly act as examiners for the medical school finals examinations.

Dr Whittaker and Dr Read-Jones are experienced GP trainers, and we usually host several GP specialty trainees here at Hastings House. These GP trainees are fully trained doctors who are training to become GPs and will usually be consulting with patients independently, under the supervision of one of our GPs.

Research

Hastings House is a Research Active Practice, which means we engage in research studies and trials in collaboration with the West Midlands Primary Care Research Network, based at Warwick Medical School.

This gives our patients the chance to get involved with cutting-edge research that should benefit many patients in the future.

Our research lead GP is Dr Paul de Cates, who works closely with our allocated research nurse Pauline Darbyshire.
